This lesson is about the faith and obedience of Abraham, a faith that impacted his son, the nation of Israel, and the entire world.
"As I confided in a fellow minister about a particularly difficult period in my ministry, he said rather matter-of-factly, “No one said this was going to be easy.” His frank assessment shook me a bit, but began to crystallize something I knew about faith but had never experienced firsthand. Maintaining faith in the face of a challenge is the only way to deepen and exhibit faith."
The above statement is so true. As a matter of fact, I had a Pastor friend tell me the same exact thing. What makes our faith grow? Is it all the good times we have, the fellowship, going to Church or even being involved in multiple committees in our ministry? These things may closen our relationship to one another, but how do we strengthen our faith in God? I dare say that we pray for adversity in our lives, but as we all know, it often hits us head on in our walk with the Lord. The important element is that through whatever trial or tribulation we may face, we must always remember that God will see us through and also that His good and perfect plan will be accomplished. Our decision is will we join in or shy away when the test is given. I'm afraid we shy away all to often, I know I tend to and we miss the lesson at hand. The choice is ours. What choice will we make. Like Abraham, we will be tested. The question is, will we split the wood or will we say we can't find an axe? As in the scripture, if we remain faithful, God will provide the sacrifice and the blessings will overflow. Pray for our Church that God will strengthen our faith and that we will remain faithful to Him. Until Sunday, keep the faith.
